What is I Listen So You Don’t Have To?

I Listen So You Don’t Have To started out as an outlet for me to share my personal experiences at live shows, as well as make new music recommendations to friends, family, and whoever else was interested. It was originally an email distribution that started in San Francisco in 2006.

Real life got in the way of this blog a few years ago, but I continue to attend live shows, and I continue to share my thoughts on those shows.

This is a personal outlet of one person and it is one person’s opinion.

I Listen will cover rock, hip-hop, noise, punk, metal, r&b, pop, and everything in between. All mp3s are for evaluation purposes only. If you like what you hear, please go out and see these bands…and buy their albums, t-shirts and posters.

If you are an artist and would like your music removed, please e-mail me at ilsudh2@gmail.com.

This blog is based in Denver, CO. I moved here from San Francisco with my wife and daughter in 2008.

i’m confused … on the ryan adams red rock review you wrote, “I saw Ryan Adams in 2012 at the Temple Buell during the ninth month of my third pregnancy.” But above you say, “I moved here from San Francisco with my wife and daughter in 2008.” ??

whatever the case/situation/really doesn’t matter — you have a true gift in your writing. your turns of phrase and use of language are … nearly jealousy-worthy. no, they totally are, though my guess is you don’t get more praise-worthy comments precisely because of that element of human nature (nature?).

anyhow, it’s your forthrightness that elevates such lovely, lyrical writing to *the real*, to truth, i feel … something few can do, assuming they even have it in them to do so. (yeah, a hyper-optimist here ;), but … lol … given telling the truth would seem to be a peculiar challenge for so many, i thank you for a good pour … and a double, served neat at that!

    i’ll take another.

Hi Anne. Thanks for the comment. I am the one who usually shares my thoughts about live shows on this blog, but I was unable to make the Ryan Adams show, so my friend Kat wrote that piece. She’s pretty amazing, huh? Anyway, just wanted to clear that up for you. Thanks for reading!

Well I am late to the party! Is as it went. To no surprise, this site is impressive a around. My only comment towards the negative is the chosen aka, Martini…. Yes! I am sticking to Bino! And yes I can see choosing a cocktail over what could be received as a medicine consumed before bean burritos… Hugs my friend

I don’t know how I even ran across your site, but I’m damn glad I did. I read just about every post on here now. I feel like I’m reading my own thoughts, only much more eloquently presented than I could ever pull off! I was amazed at the lack of comments on some very well written, insightful articles. Keep up the good work. I’ll keep checking back for more 🙂
