“From a 200-year-old farmhouse in rural Vermont, Anaïs Mitchell writes songs that are as intimate as conversations and as rich in detail as short stories. Her latest project is the critically-acclaimed Hadestown, a postmodern rendition of the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. From its opening notes, Hadestown is “utterly fresh and artful” (Boston Globe) and packed with irresistible melodies and lyrical poetry.”

Not sure if I deserve the tickets, that would be an odd claim to make. I would love to go, though. I’m pretty sure I first heard about the project via this site, listened to it and was absolutely astounded. I had planned a trip to NY to see a friend, which happened to coincide with a Hadestown performance featuring most of the folks on the actual album (minus Bon Iver). I was stoked, but ended up delaying the trip by a week or two for who knows what reason. NYC was awesome and kept me occupied, but was always bummed I missed the performance…would LOVE to see it here, live in our little frontier town. Awesome offer! : )
