The Middle East weren’t from the middle east, they were from Townsville in Queensland, Australia. A music collective responsible for one of the best folk EP‘s in the last decade, The Recordings of the Middle East . A band that released their debut LP, I Want That You Are Always Happy, just a few short months ago. A group of people who have ceased to exist as The Middle East. It really is a shame, as I believe they were a beacon of creativity in a genre where so many feel content recycling what has come before them. R.I.P. The Middle East. I hope you find what you are looking for and continue to make music in one form or another. I count myself lucky to have found your music and to have caught your amazing set at SXSW 2010. Blood will always be one of my favorite songs.
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN :
writing to inform you that we’re ceasing. i’m not sure if we’ll make more music later on or not.
we don’t feel like playing anymore for a whole lot of reasons that i won’t list here and i’m afraid if we continued any longer it would just be a moneygrab. i’d rather go hungry. thank you to all those who came to shows.
we had fun.
t.s elliot wrote ‘you are the music while the music lasts’, but he also wrote that confusing little book about cats so don’t put too much stock in his quotes.
i’m very tired. until next time.
