Beyoncé – 4
What might seem like an odd album recommendation for this site, it will make sense to those who know me and my affection for female r&b singers. Usually I keep these guilty pleasures within the confines of my own home and ipod, but Beyoncé‘s fourth full-length since going solo really does transcend the ‘guilty’ part of the pleasure and it just wouldn’t be honest not to include it here. With the exception of a few mediocre tracks (Party, Countdown and Run the World), 4 allows Beyoncé‘s voice to take center stage. Beats her husband would be jealous of only serving as a compliment to the diva’s vocals, this album takes Beyoncé from the dancefloor to the bedroom. This album has something for you no matter what kind of summer you are having — one of newfound love and possible futures, one of heartbreak and regret or somewhere in between. Queen B will be 30 years old in a couple months and 4 proves she will wear this maturity with style.
