the femme fatale factor

These are albums that have been on heavy rotation lately but I just haven’t had the time to write about.  I still don’t have the time to write about them, so I’m taking the easy way out with a group post.  Every once in a while I find a common theme in the music I am listening to and I’m sure you can already guess the theme here.  Yes, every one of these bands has a strong female presence.  So without further ado, let’s get on with the femme fatale/horrible haiku post…

Esben and the Witch – Violet Cries
(Matador, 2011)

Her name is Rachel
She will make you cold and scared
You will enjoy it

Esben and the WitchMarching Song

The Joy Formidable – The Big Roar
(Atlantic, 2011)

Female Silversun?
Hot Topic and high school crowd?
Or just good brit rock?

The Joy FormidableA Heavy Abacus

The Kills – Blood Pressures
(Domino, 2011)

if her looks could kill
this would be vampire blues
blood red seduction

The KillsDamned If She Do

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart – Belong
(Slumberland Records, 2011)

not as cute as you
would think with a name like that
edge unexpected

The Pains of Being Pure at HeartBelong
