Agalloch – Marrow of the Spirit

Agalloch – Marrow of the Spirit

This is going to be the soundtrack of my winter.  Agalloch‘s new album of atmospheric black metal came at a perfect time in the year.  The dark comes early, the frost covers everything in the morning and there is the constant threat of a huge storm coming over the mountains.  It might have been written and recorded in the Pacific Northwest, but Marrow of the Spirit could just as easily been recorded right here in Colorado.

I’ve had this album on repeat for awhile now and it’s nice to see it getting the praise it deserves…picked as Album of the Year by Decibel and given an 8.5 by Pitchfork today.
