New Interpol Song Not Disappointing?

Interpol, the New York ‘too cool for school’ band that brought us attitude, skinny ties, leather jackets,  1 great album, 1 really good album and 1 mediocre album are stirring.

According to Pitchfork, they sent out this note:

Hello everyone.

We’re stirring.
Please take a moment to visit our website:
We want to show you something.
And make sure you come back soon.
We will be posting important information and dates in the coming weeks.

Thank you.

I have to admit I have only listened to the song once, but that one listen make me think it was worth posting.  It sounds like Bright Lights Interpol.  Let me know what you think.

The picture here features Carlos D. I thought he left. I wish he hadn’t!

Found it very difficult to like this song. Or indeed have any emotion towards it, except expectancy and impending frustration. Largely colourless and lacking in dynamic, when the intro finishes it all looms into a grey blur of nothingness, rather like a detuned television. Believe it or not i am a fan of Interpol, but i get mardy when they make you double check whether you like something when really you don’t because there’s nothing much to like. Or dislike. I find myself questioning why i don’t dig it, to the point where the song has finished and i’ve forgotten all about the enchanting and joyful element of sound because i spent the whole song debating whether or not i understand the concept of post modernism in modern music. I obviously think too much, that’s probably why i was hoping for something a little more primal to remedy my condition. Hopefully the next thing they release will contain something memorable, and dare i say it remarkable.
