Just A Track: Sage Francis – Slow Man

Sage Francis is one of those unique hip-hop artists who crosses genres into the indie rock & experimental worlds.  Not unlike artists on the Def Jux label or in the Doomtree Collective, his music is influenced as much by punk rock aesthetics as classic hip-hop culture.

If you are not familiar with Sage’s work, download Personal Journals and A Heathly Distrust now!  Both are amazing albums!  But to really experience Sage Francis, you have to see his live performance.   It is a site to behold.

The new album, L(i)fe, promises to blends genres even more with contributions from members of Death Cab for Cutie, Grandaddy, Califone and DeVotchKa…and the late Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse.

Here is the first track off that album.
