Just A Track: Phosphorescent – It’s Hard to Be Humble (When You’re From Alabama)

Last year’s To Willie (a full album of Willie Nelson covers) was one of my favorite albums of the year.  It was also the album that got me into Matthew Houck aka Phosphorescent.  Before that particular album, his material just sounded boring to me.  I even saw Bon Iver open for him one night at The Independent and then left before he even took the stage.  But his new album of original material will be out on May 11th and I have a feeling I’m going to like it this time around.  The Willie album made me appreciate his voice, so I am now looking forward to Here’s To Taking It Easy.

This first song off the new album sounds pretty damn good too.  More upbeat that his earlier work.  And how can you not love that title?

We were honored to have Phosphorescent in to the recording studio to film live, in-studio performances for 4 of their songs. You can check it out here: http://www.freqcontrol.com
