Every so often I will be posting under the ‘Derailed’ heading. This is for posts that are outside my normal comfort area…indie rock/pop.
The American Carnage Tour is the big metal tour of the year. Three masters of thrash-metal, Slayer, Megadeth and Testament, all under the same roof. This tour came at the perfect time for me. I am just getting back into metal and what better way to kick-start that then see these bands that molded my interest in the genre when I was just a kid? Rust in Peace, Peace Sells and Reign in Blood have been put back in rotation and I have been checking craigslist for floor tickets. I have seen Slayer and Megadeth quite a few times and they have never disappointed. Not to mention their new albums, Slayer’s World Painted Blood and Megadeth‘s Endgame, include some of the best material they have put out in years! So you can understand my disappointment when I found out that this tour had been postponed.
It seems Tom Aray, lead singer/bassist for Slayer, needs back surgery. They say they are going to reschedule for Summer ’10, but I am a little doubtful. Megadeth has their own headlining tour in Europe this summer as well as dates with Slayer, Metallica and Anthrax at a few of the Sonisphere Festivals. So I guess I’ll just keep my fingers crossed and go to the Nile show at the Bluebird on January 25th instead.
