San Francisco’s mini-SXSW has released their final line-up for 2010. Noise Pop will open Tuesday, Feburary 23rd with Yoko Ono and The Plastic Ono Band at the Fox Theater. Interesting show I’m sure, but disappointed that the week will open in Oakland. The art, film and music event will run through Monday, March 1st when Magnetic Fields close it out at Herbst Theater. Some highlights this year include Memory Tapes, We Were Promised Jetpacks, Dodos, Mark Kozelek, Atlas Sound and of course Magnetic Fields. A little short on highlights this year. I thought Antony and the Johnsons were originally scheduled, but I guess he pulled out. I was supposed to fly out for the week this year and now I’m glad I didn’t. I will be in the city for the week of February 8th. You can find me venue-hopping, catching shows by The Antlers, Editors, Wild Beasts and Girls. A much better line-up in my opinion.
Hopefully Noise Pop can step it up again next year. We had badges in 2007 (not a good idea) and caught performaces by Mika Miko, The Walkmen, Kelley Stoltz, Grand Archives, Magnetic Fields, Mountain Goats, and only missed She & Him because I had to leave town.
