Live Music Experiences ’09

  1. Flying to Phoenix and seeing Leonard Cohen live with my dad.  The man is 75 years old and performed an amazing 3 hour show…and skipped back onstage for an encore.
  2. Having my faith in metal restored while watching Kylesa and Mastodon in Boulder.
  3. Finally getting Kevin to go to a show…and watching Gaslight Anthem kill it.
  4. My first season at Red Rocks.  Highlights were David Byrne, Kings of Leon, Jackson Browne, Killers, Walkmen, Flaming Lips, Explosions in the Sky
  5. Discovering Larimer Lounge. One of the only 21 and over venues in Denver.  Reminds me of being back in SF.  Highlights include Jason Isbell, Henry Clay People, The Big Pink, Crystal Antlers.
  6. Music Roadtrip across the US.  Highlights were the spaces in between.  The random billboard, person, small town.  Best show I saw on that trip was John Mellencamp and Willie Nelson.
  7. Standing in the 3rd row watching Sonic Youth destroy it while realizing they are older than my parents.
  8. Being one of the few white guys at Lil’ Wayne at Fiddlers.
  9. Seeing Drive-By Truckers in Aspen at the Snowmass Fest.
  10. Trying to figure out what Shane was saying in between songs at The Pogues!
  11. Attending the Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, Tx.  Highlights were moshing to Face to Face, seeing Gorilla Biscuits after all these years, Danzig closing with ‘Mother’, Atlas Sound, Fucked Up, Lucero, Crystal Antlers, Crystal Castles, Death and Fuck Buttons.
  12. Finally seeing The Pixies!
  13. Ray LaMontagne doing a solo acoustic set at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House with Jamie on our 2 year anniversary.
  14. Standing 2nd row while Warren G did Regulators.
  15. Unexpected amazing performance by Pink Mountaintops at Hi-Dive.  Amber Webber’s voice is amazing!

Get out there and see a show!!!  Or come out here and see one with me!
